The Boppana Sarath Gopal Foundation, in collaboration with Sankara Eye Hospital, successfully conducted a 3-day Free Eye Screening & Health Camp at Seshadri Rao Gudlavalleru Engineering College (SRGEC).
This initiative was designed to provide essential healthcare services to students from schools, colleges, and the local community, ensuring that every individual received the care they needed.
School Students (Classes 1–10) & Intermediate Students
The first day of the camp began with a grand inauguration ceremony, attended by college management, doctors from Sankara Eye Hospital, and volunteers of the Boppana Sarath Gopal Foundation. After the welcome address and lighting of the lamp, the free health check-up initiative officially commenced.
Doctors and healthcare staff focused on school students (Classes 1–10) and Intermediate students, providing them with eye screenings and general medical check-ups. Children were educated about eye hygiene, proper nutrition, and preventive care to avoid future vision problems.
Many students who were identified with refractive errors received free eyeglasses on the same day. This initiative ensured that young learners could continue their education without the burden of untreated vision problems.
Diploma, Engineering, & MBA Students
The second day of the camp was dedicated to Diploma, Engineering, and MBA students of SRGEC. With the growing academic and digital workload, these students often face eye strain, headaches, and vision challenges due to excessive screen time.
The healthcare team conducted comprehensive eye tests, health check-ups, and one-to-one consultations. Students also attended a special counseling session on how to manage digital eye strain and maintain healthy lifestyles while balancing studies.
Several engineering and MBA students were provided with corrective eyeglasses, and referrals were made for advanced medical treatment in cases where surgeries were required.
Faculty, Staff, and Local Community Members
The third and final day of the camp extended its services to college faculty, non-teaching staff, and members of the local community. This day highlighted the foundation’s commitment to serving all age groups — from students to senior citizens.
Faculty members and staff underwent health consultations, ensuring they also received preventive care. Many elderly community members attended the camp, benefitting from eye screenings, medical check-ups, eyeglasses distribution, and referrals for cataract and advanced surgeries.
The camp concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the organizers, appreciating the contribution of doctors, healthcare providers, and volunteers. The event was marked as a milestone in community healthcare outreach, successfully impacting hundreds of lives.
